The NAC Healthy Care Program starts with a comprehensive health and fitness assessment that includes blood work to test blood sugar and cholesterol. For 13 weeks you will meet in a group for two hours at the Newtown Athletic Club. Hour one is comprised of nutrition, behavior modification or stress management education and hour two is fitness education and exercise. This is not a diet or a strict workout plan. You will leave with the knowledge and confidence to manage your nutrition and fitness going forward. Typical improvements include losing weight & inches in your waist as well as dropping blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar points. This program includes full access to the club and all amenities included in NAC membership, ranging from the indoors and outdoor pools to group exercise classes to spa locker rooms.
Customized exercise program created 1-1 with a Certified Personal Trainer
Weekly 2 hour, group sessions delivered by a Wellness Coach
Meal planning, stress management and goal setting strategies
Private pre & post biometric testing including finger stick cholesterol, glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure and body composition
“My wife and I recently completed the NAC’s Commit to Get Fit program with great success. We did not expect such noticeable results or to learn as much as we did. Based on our past experience, we thought we knew just about all there was to know about food, nutrition, and exercise. We were very wrong.
While we both enjoyed the different exercise classes, the strength of the program was the one hour classroom sessions each week. The program materials were well designed, easy to follow, and chock full of information. The materials were presented by you in an easy manner and we are grateful for your acceptance of numerous questions. Nina was a great addition in the area of nutrition and physiology. The NAC’s fitness professionals are a great team! Most of all, the teaching style kept the class moving and on point when it threatened to devolve into social hour.
We both enjoyed the opportunity to sample 13 exercise classes of all different types. I was surprised that I enjoyed the Spin and Yoga classes. An area that has plagued me my whole life is flexibility and I’m going to keep up with an occasional yoga class. Bar, Six Zone, and Team Training were also my favorites. Carrie was very fond of the variety, especially Team Training and Pilates.
The focus on getting healthy, instead of pure weight loss, was a real plus. We both feel that the length of the program put us in a position to make clean eating and routine exercise something that we’ll do for the rest of our lives. We would both highly recommend doing this program as a couple. The reinforcement between the two of us was a huge help, as was another pair of eyes to look at labels, prepare food, and exercise motivation.
Finally, the health metrics changes for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, lost inches, flexibility and so forth were truly astonishing. We could not be more pleased and are very thankful that we entered the program.”

“It’s hard to believe but it is now 2 years since I went through your initial “Commit to Get Fit” class at the NAC. I can’t tell you what a difference it has made in the way I eat. I lost 25 pounds and have kept them off. I really appreciate your making such a radical change in my life both painless and permanent!”
