At the Newtown Athletic Club, we believe that physical activity and sports lay the foundation for a healthy and active life. We’re committed to fostering those traits and values with a variety of sports programs, including recreational and competitive gymnastics.

Gymnastics is one of the most comprehensive lifestyle exercise programs incorporating strength, speed, flexibility, balance, coordination, power, endurance and discipline.

While recreational classes are fitting for anyone, the USAIGC competitive gymnastics team and pre-teams require more practice hours and year-round commitment.

NAC Gymnastics Team

The Recreational Program is for beginner and intermediate gymnasts ages 4 & older that are interested in learning gymnastics, or progressing without intent of moving to our competitive team. This program is based on the fundamentals of gymnastics with a strong emphasis on building technique and discipline. Gymnasts are expected to attend 1 class per week.

Ages 4-7 | Monday 5pm-6:30pm
Ages 8 & Older | Wednesday 5pm-6:30pm

The Pre-team program is for intermediate gymnasts ages 4 & older. This program builds on existing fundamentals with high intensity and disciplined practices, preparing gymnasts mentally and physically for successful participation in a USAIGC competition team. Gymnasts are expected to attend 2 classes per week.

Ages 4 & Older | Tuesday and Thursday 5pm-7pm

The USAIGC competitive gymnastics team is the highest level of gymnastics for ages 5 & older that is offered at the Newtown Athletic Club. The team is invite only, and gives gymnasts an opportunity to explore the competitive world of gymnastics at a smaller scale. We offer routine training in all USAIGC levels, and focus our program around building mentally and physically strong and confident gymnasts on all events. All gymnasts are evaluated at the beginning of the season and placed into the appropriate level by our head coach. We compete in 5-7 competitions a season, host mock meets, in-house performances, team bonding nights, and take part in local parades and more.

The team practices 2-3x a week, in adhttps://newtownathletic.com/kids-fitness-classes/gymnastics@newtownathletic.comdition to off season training. Training schedule will vary, based on level for this team.
