NGC Team coach, Gina Scarangella, is this week’s #TeamTuesday feature team member. Gina began doing gymnastics at the age of six and competed as a USAG gymnast until the age of sixteen. While in high school, she began participating in competitive cheerleading, and later went on to cheer at La Salle University. After graduating college and obtaining her bachelors degree in nursing, Gina became an NFL cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens. As her love for gymnastics continues, she hopes to share what she has learned with the team members of the Newtown Gymnastics Club.

Get to know Gina!

1. What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of coaching is being able to give children an experience that I once shared myself. I believe gymnastics teaches fundamental skills such as determination, respect, and teamwork that can be used throughout life.

2.  What color best matches your personality?

The color that best matches my personality is red. I chose this color because I believe it symbolizes determination, strength, and enthusiasm.

3. What three things would you want if you were stranded on a deserted island?

If I were stranded on a deserted island I would want to have food, drinking water, and Netflix.

4. If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would you choose?

If I could have dinner with any famous person I would choose Gabby Douglas in hopes that after dinner we could have a handstand contest.

5. What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

One of my favorite childhood memories is simply being in the gym. I would spend most of my time there and when it was time to go home, it was difficult for my parents to get me out.

6. What is your proudest accomplishment?

One of my proudest accomplishments is graduating with my bachelors degree in nursing and passing the state board nursing test.

7. If you could live in any book, movie, or tv show what would you choose?

I am a huge Harry Potter fan so if I could live in Hogsmeade, I would. Plus, who doesn’t love the idea of Butterbeer?
