Early in the morning on Sunday, August 2, hundreds of children and parents lined up at the registration table to check in for the 4th Annual Kid’s TRI at the NAC. This year’s kid’s triathlon was better than ever, with a redesigned course, post race after party and awards for the top finishers in each age group.
After they checked in, participants dropped off their bikes, helmets, shoes and shirts in their assigned spot and headed down to the warm-up zone to get pumped up for the big race! Parisi Speed School instructors led warm-ups of different exercises for each age group.
The first heat of 5-6-year-olds entered the pool and when the whistle blew it was the start of the race! Each age group was required to swim, bike, and run different distances. After completing the required amount of laps, triathletes ran to their bikes, put on their shoes, shirts and helmets and were off again in the bike portion of the race. Then participants sprinted to the NAC outdoor pool complex where the finish line was waiting.
When all the heats had finished up and every participant had crossed the finish line and received their medal, pretzel and water, everyone gathered together in the outdoor pool to enjoy a day relaxing in the sun.
Shortly after 11AM, Dylan Sinkler, TRI Race Coordinator, and Amanda Brown, Youth Program Director, made the announcement that the winners had been determined. Everyone gathered around and the trophies were presented to the top finishers in each age group.
The 4th Annual Kid’s TRI was a great event full of family fun. Congratulations to the top finishers and all those who participated, we hope you had a great time! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the event as well.
