Gymnastics How-To: Back Walkover

Newtown Gymnastics Club Team Head Coach, Miss Stephany, breaks down step-by-step how to complete a proper back walkover. This skill is demonstrated on the beam by one of the NGC team gymnasts.


 

Step 1: Stand in a straight body position, with arms by your ears, raising your cartwheel leg into a horizontal position. Make sure toes are pointed and back is straight.

Step 2: Bend back into your bridge positioning your hands onto the beam and continuing to keep your cartwheel leg horizontal.

Step 3: Get into your handstand position, showing your fill leg split with a straight back.

Step 4: Step down with your cartwheel leg, landing in a lunge position.

Step 5: Finish with arms in front in a stick-it position.
