Youth Dance Classes through NAC Dance Foundations
NAC Dance Foundations consists of two separate programs with different goals – our recreational program and our studio program.
Our recreational program is included in the Family Plus Programs membership at the NAC, as well as being open to the community and general public of the Bucks County area. The goal of the recreational dance program is to get children active through movement and music, as they learn the basics of dance. Dance classes are available for newborn babies through 12 years old. Through the Academy of Dance programs, we offer both parent participation classes and independent classes in a variety of styles and genres. This program runs in 11-12 week sessions.
The second program offered by NAC Dance Foundations is the studio program. The goal of this program is to build skills and knowledge of dance techniques. With a variety of levels offered in each genre of dance classes, the goal is to have each dancer progress through as their skills and abilities grow. This program runs from September through May, culminating in a final recital at the end of the year. Dance classes for ages 3 through adulthood are offered.
As part of our fitness programs that shape not just health but a total lifestyle (like gymnastics and taekwondo), students of the Academy will experience improved strength, coordination, balance and confidence at the same time. Dance classes and programs are available to all NAC members and the community members of Bucks County, including those of Newtown, Richboro and Langhorne.
NAC Dance Foundations offers the following dance classes for all ages:
Ballet – Ballet is a discipline of grace, strength and artistry. A traditional ballet training class, this series teaches students the fundamentals of ballet technique.
Dance Team – The Newtown Athletic Club’s dance team competes throughout the year, both locally in Bucks County, Pennsylvania as well as nationally. The twice-weekly class practices high-energy routines that combine jazz, modern/lyrical and hip-hop styles as well as pompom work. (Dance Pre-Team is a prerequisite for this class. Dance Team placement is determined by audition.)
Hip Hop – Focusing on hip-hop dance techniques like isolations and contractions, this high-energy, dynamic series of dance classes develops coordination, rhythm and self-expression.
Jazz – Students will learn a broad range of jazz styles throughout this program, including broadway, street and contemporary jazz dance.
Modern/Lyrical Dance – A fusion of ballet and jazz, modern/lyrical dance classes focus on telling stories through expressive movement.
Tap – Tap at its finest is an exhilarating display of rhythm, speed and expressiveness. In each class, students will learn tap techniques, gradually perfecting the intricacy and accuracy of their footwork.
Ballet/Tap – Students learn a balanced combination of both ballet and tap fundamentals.
Pre Ballet/Tap – Students aged three to four can learn basic tap and ballet skills to prepare them for the next level.
