To know what Katie means to my workouts you need to know me first – at my ideal weight already, mom of 2, demanding job and a hard-core procrastinator (read: who has time to workout & why exactly do I need to workout?).

I found Katie right after making a move from Boston to Bucks county. I had been working out with a trainer for almost a year prior to the move and all I wanted was a replacement trainer. My goals were simple – keep fitting into my size 2 outfits. What I have achieved with Katie in just a short span of time is far more than that!

After several years of training with a certified personal trainer, I didn’t think I had that much room to grow. Katie has shown me a new way of life and more importantly has helped me set new goals that I would never have set for myself. She has taught me that abs of steel aren’t just photo-shop tricks but it takes discipline to achieve them – dedicated training and watching what you eat. She showed me how girls can lift “big-boy” weights too and a mom can certainly lift more than her kids. Over time she has got my whining self to stop rolling my eyes and see how lifting weights is physical/mental therapy for stress, and wasn’t just another guilty hour away from my kids – it actually makes me a fitter, happier and more energetic mom when I am with them.

She’s found her own ways of motivating me and they actually work. When I complain about how heavy the leg press is – she tacks on another 5 pounds (when I actually then do the set, I can’t but help wonder what I was complaining about without the 5 pounds). When I can’t push the sled anymore – she stands on it instead of the weights and tells me how I’ve been pushing more than her body weight so far.

Katie is more than a trainer, she is definitely a lifestyle coach for me. I am going out to eat at Oishi tonight – make sure you eat the Gopdol with extra veggies and bring leftovers for breakfast, says Katie. I am bored of my same old breakfast – I eat ground turkey with fruit some days, says Katie (who thinks of that?!?).

I am stronger, faster, better because of Katie. Our new collective goal is for me to do pull ups in 2016 and evidently not the kind where she needs to push my butt so I can make it to the top…..
