Recap: The first NAC Save Second Base bench press competition was held on Friday October 19 in the fitness center. Because of the event, $270 was collected and donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization to support breast cancer awareness and research. Participants ranged in experience from first timers to a member of a national power lifting organization. Weigh-ins began at 6:45pm and the event started promptly at 7:00pm. Everyone enjoyed themselves and some personal records were broken. The biggest lift of the night came from heavyweight Josh Griffith, pressing 350lbs.

The best body weight to bench press ratio came from NAC member Nick Johnson. At 177lbs he pressed 275lbs leaving him with a score of 1.5537. The women were represented well with Mary Ann Wieckowi coming out on top in the 148lb weight class and pressing 165lbs giving her a score of 1.1149. Great sportsmanship was shown throughout the event rooting each other on and sharing tips. The next event in the works is a sanctioned power lifting meet with all three events slated for February 2013.  Also coming to the NAC is a weigh lifting competition near April and a bodybuilding/fitness show in August 2013. Hope to see you there!  Check the program desk for more information!
