Kids Fitness and Exercise Programs at the NAC
The goal of KidFit at the Newtown Athletic Club is to get kids active through sports and fitness classes, in a comfortable and social environment. We offer a variety of kids fitness classes, ranging from sports like soccer, basketball and football, to other fitness options like Zumba and yoga. Children have the opportunity to grow and learn in a positive environment through the KidFit program.

About KidFit

KidFit is a kids fitness and sports program available at the Newtown Athletic Club where your child can build new friendships while cheering on and even challenging one another. Here’s what you should know:

  • Available for kids ages 1.5 (unless they are potty trained!) through 12-years-old.
  • Sessions are 11-12 weeks long.
  • KidFit is included in the Family Plus Programs membership at the Newtown Athletic Club, but it is also open to the general public and community.
  • Classes range from sports like soccer, basketball and football, to other physical activities such as art and recreational dance.

Attire: All participants must wear athletic attire that is non-restrictive, a t-shirt, shorts or sweatpants are common. All children must have sneakers. Absolutely no jeans or clothing with buttons, zippers, or beading is permitted. There is no jewelry permitted. Hair must be tied back and securely fastened with an elastic rubber band, no clips or bows that will inhibit any rolling activities.

Reminder: If your child is absent one or two times without notification, he or she will be removed from the class roster. If you know your child will miss a class, please email attendance@newtownathletic.com for him or her to be excused.

By signing your son our daughter up for KidFit, you will encourage him or her to live a healthy lifestyle. KidFit instructors will also teach your child about developing healthy habits. Furthermore, some of the benefits of having your child take part in our KidFit program, and regular exercise, in general, are that he or she will have:

  • Stronger bones and muscles.
  • A healthier self.
  • Healthier sleep patterns.
  • A better mood and outlook on life.
  • Improved motor performance skills and coordination.
  • Less of a risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  • Lower blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
