The Newtown Athletic Club has exciting internship opportunities in different areas of the club. Internships are offered year round in four different sessions. Candidates must be enthusiastic, hard-working, and possess great customer service skills. All interns will receive credit hours as required for by their college or university, along with a free membership for the duration of their internship as compensation. Internship hours are flexible based on credit hour needs.

Youth Programs Internship

Job Description – The youth programs intern will perform a variety of administrative functions and office support activities for the Youth Programs department. Duties include fielding phone calls, word processing, creating and updating spreadsheets, filing, and data entry. Youth Programs intern will help assist with birthday party programming as well as any other areas of youth programs the intern is interested in experiencing. Basic computer skills are required, along with internet research capabilities, and strong written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail is  a must!

Specific Duties Include:

  • Serve as a group leader, team builder, trainer, educator, and motivator for youth participants.
  • Assist staff in program management.
  • Communicate with youth to determine their needs and interests.
  • Ensure a variety of sport, recreation, cultural and other programs are planned and implemented.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
  • Identify areas where new programs are needed.
  • Assist in any behavioral issues as needed.
  • Perform adjusted or additional duties, as needed.

Additional information: a passion for working with children is a plus as this position is within the Youth Programs Department.

This position is ideal for those pursuing a degree in education, business management, sports and recreation management, or tourism and hospitality.

Parisi Speed School Internship

Job Description – 

  • Passion: We want coaches and employees who love what they do, and have a passion for sports, training, and helping people!
  • Work Ethic: You have to be ready to roll up your sleeves and do some dirty work; whether it’s cleaning, data entry, phone calls, training early and leaving late we need employees who are willing to do what it takes.
  • Communication: Working at Parisi is a contact sport……..the more times you come in contact with our prospective members the better. We need coaches with great people skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge: A solid background in either sports, strength and conditioning, fitness, sales, or education is preferred.
  • Personal Fitness: We require our coaches to be able to perform the workouts they will be coaching, and we look for individuals who live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Professionalism: Attention To Detail is what separates Parisi training. We need coaches who are always on time, dressed appropriately, and do all the little things that make them a great coach!

Qualifications

Must have completed at least 2 semesters of a directly related major, must have the tolerance and fun attitude to work with young children and teenagers, must have no criminal history background, must have basic understanding of how to work computer systems. Have or working towards CSCS, NASM-PES certification.

Youth Programs Marketing Internship

Job Description – The Youth Programs marketing intern will be responsible for assisting the Youth Programs marketing manager in the development and implementation of it’s marketing and business development plans. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining, and expanding marketing channels.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist manager with marketing plans per the NAC marketing strategy.
  • Utilize monthly marketing calendar to coordinate marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in implementing various marketing strategies including print and digital ads, direct marketing, and social media.
  • Come up with new ideas for marketing.
  • Assist with business development per the NAC marketing strategy.
  • Write and post blogs on the NAC website.
  • Perform any other duties as needed for the Youth Programs Marketing Manager

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize is a changing environment.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and follow-up skills.
  • Leadership potential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Graphic Design Internship

Position Overview – Prepares visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials from Creative Director.
  • Plans concept by studying information and materials.
  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
  • Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; purchasing from vendors.
  • Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment.
  • Completes projects by coordinating with outside vendors, art services, printers, etc.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: As an intern you will be required to work an average 12-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible between 9a-6p, however consistent weekly hours will be required. Weekends and evenings will be on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Current student working toward a degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CS6 on both platforms

Video Production Intern

Position Overview – Exciting opportunity to work with a “Top 3 Health Club in America” producing fast paced, high-quality video to be used for internal/external promotion.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work in conjunction with the internal marketing team to determine video content calendar based on promotional needs
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and departmental directors on pre-and post-production planning activities
  • Carry out field-based video production that includes interaction with company employees or customers
  • Manage the video editing process, which may include voice overs and background scores, to maximize the use of each video segment produced
  • Deliver high-quality, finished video segments that can be integrated on the company’s website and social media channels
  • Operate and maintain all professional video, audio and lighting equipment

Requirements: As an intern you will be required to work an average 12-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible between 9a-6p, however consistent weekly hours will be required. Weekends and evenings will be on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors program focused on media communications, video production, cinematography or related field
  • Preferably own or have access to high-quality video equipment, including professional HD camera, on-board lighting, tripod and microphone and video editing software (Adobe Premier Pro)
  • Must submit a portfolio of work to demonstrate experience in creative storytelling, lighting and sound skills, and editing ability
  • Experience with creating animated video and/or graphic design skills a plus
